Eric Hangberg was our guest
speaker on 1/23. He is an Author, Metro Parks Tacoma Commissioner, and Side x
Side Creative Partner. He has several published books which include:
The Saints Go Dying (2010)
The Marinara Murders (2011)
The Con Before Christmas (2012)
Three Arthur Beautyman Mysteries (2013)
I learned a few valuable
lessons from the time he began speaking. He mentioned that there were
two types of work: one is
to sell your time and the other is to sell
something else. This really stuck to me because if we really
think about it, what do we have to offer? We can either work a job where we're
paid for our services and skills. A typical 9-5 job where we constantly
give eight to nine hours of our twenty four hour day hoping to
pay the bills, raise a family, and etc.. On the contrary, creating an
ingenious idea/product and running with it can have tremendous outcomes. He
also mentioned a few books that were worth reading such as: The $100 startup by
Chris Guillebeau and the E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber.
These are great books, which give an insight to entrepreneurship and
what it entails. The $100 startup give you details of how to make a living by
doing what you enjoy and love and finally retiring young and creating a new
future.
